Introduction:

Impulse is change in momentum of a body. The momentum of a body changed by applying a force for a short interval of time.

The pitcher throws the ball to catcher for this he applies impulse in forward direction. The catcher catches the ball by applying impulse on the ball but in opposite direction. As ball’s velocity did not change during flight, the impulse exerted by both the player on the ball is same.

Conclusion:

Impulse exerted by the both player on the ball is same.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

The force which changes the momentum of body within short interval of time is known as impulsive force. Impulsive force is inversely proportional to time.

Large force is exerted by the catcher on the ball since he catches the ball which is coming with high speed and in short interval of time. So, he exerts large force than the pitcher.
