Carla paid $45 to join a golf camp for the summer. She will also pay $15 for every private lesson that she takes and she has a budgeted $225

Rules of Addition/ Subtraction:

• Two numbers with similar sign always get added and the resulting number will carry the similar sign.
• Two numbers with opposite signs always get subtracted and the resulting number will carry the sign of larger number.

Rules of Multiplication/ Division:

• The product/quotient of two similar sign numbers is always positive.
• The product/quotient of two numbers with opposite signs is always negative.

Since Carla paid $45 to join a golf camp for the summer. She will also pay $15 for every private lesson that she takes and she has a budgeted $225 as shown below,

  $45+15x=225$

Thus, the equation is $45+15x=225$

In order to solve the equation $45+15x=225$ first subtract both sides by $45$ and then divide both sides by $15$ and then simplify as below
