Here we have to analyse the motion in two co-ordinate system X axis and Y axis. The Y axis is takenperpendicular to the table.The X axis is along the surface of a table. The coordinate system as shown in figure below.

Conclusion:

The best coordinate system that is used is X axis along the book and Y axis perpendicular to book.
