Concept explainers
The techniques used in industry to reduce the friction between various parts of machine.
Explanation of Solution
Technique (1) − lubricant oil or grease are used in engines to reduce friction.
Technique (2) − Lubricant reduces the sliding of the moving parts of the machine. It allows sliding of the machine parts smoothly. Thus, it reduces the friction.
Technique (3) − Balls bearing are round in shape. They are placed between the machine parts and allow them to move by rolling over the parts. This makes the friction rather rolling than sliding. Thus, it reduces friction as rolling friction is lesser than sliding friction.
Conclusion:
Hence, these techniques reduce the friction of machine.
