The general molecular formula of acyclic alkanes is CnH2n+2.

•  n is an integer, that represents number of carbon atoms.

For the hydrocarbon of sex pheromone that contains 23 carbon atoms:

Substitute the value of number of carbon atoms (n) in general molecular formula of acyclic alkanes.

C23H(2×23)+2C23H48

Thus, the molecular formula of hydrocarbon that contains 23 carbon atoms is C23H48.

Hence, the number of hydrogen atoms is 48.

For the hydrocarbon of sex pheromone that contains 25 carbon atoms:

Substitute the value of number of carbon atoms (n) in general molecular formula of acyclic alkanes.

=C25H(2×25)+2=C25H52

Hence, the number of hydrogen atoms is 52.
