To write:
The difference between macronutrients and micronutrients.
Introduction:
Nutrition is the process by which a person can take in and uses food. Food supplies building blocks and energy to maintain body mass. The daily intake of energy from food should be equal to the amount of energy that a person uses daily. A calorie is a unit used to measure the energy content of the food.
Explanation of Solution
The nutrient is a food-supply material that is necessary for the continuation of life for development. Human needs nutrients like protein, vitamin, carbohydrate, fats, minerals, dietary fiber and water. All nutrients can be categorized into two groups- macronutrients and micronutrients. The difference between macronutrients and micronutrients are given below:
Macronutrients | Micronutrients |
These are required in large amounts. | These are required in small amounts. |
They contribute to the bulk energy needed for the | They help to maintain various functions of the body, growth and disease prevention. |
Carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber and water are macronutrients. | Vitamin and some minerals are micronutrients. |
Thus, the macronutrients and micronutrients can be differentiated on the basis of their requirement, function, etc.
