To write:
The difference between saturated fats and unsaturated fats.
Introduction:
Nutrition is the process by which a person can take in and use food. Food supplies energy to maintain body mass. The daily intake of energy from food should be equal to the amount of energy that a person uses daily. A calorie is a unit used to measure the energy content of the food.
Explanation of Solution
Fats are the most intense energy source that is available to the body and building blocks for the body. Fats also protect certain internal organs and help to sustain homeostasis by supplying calories and storing and distributing some vitamins. Based on their chemical composition, fats may be categorized as saturated or unsaturated. The difference between saturated fats and unsaturated fats are given below:
Saturated fats | Unsaturated fats |
These are solids at room temperature. | These are liquid at room temperature. |
They can lead to high blood pressure and other heart problems. | They are not lead to any diseases. |
Meat, cheeses, and other dairy products are sources of saturated fats. | Plants are the main source of unsaturated fats. |
Thus, the saturated and unsaturated fats can be differentiated on the basis of their effects, structure, and sources.
