Introduction:
The respiratory system in mammals can be divided into two parts: the conducting portion and the gas-exchange portion. The conducting portion consists of series of passageways that carry air into and out of the gas-exchange portion within the lungs, where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged with blood in lung capillaries.
