Introduction:
Neurons are specialized cells that help to collect external information, analyze the information, and respond to it. Neurons make up a large signaling network, called the nervous system, in the body. A neuron mainly consists of three regions: an axon, the dendrites and a cell body. There are three groups of neurons: sensory neurons, motor neurons, and interneurons.
Explanation of Solution
Nerves in the somatic nervous system transmit information to the central nervous system from external sensory receptors, and motor nerves transmit information from the central nervous system to the skeletal muscles.
The sympathetic nervous system is most effective in times of emergency or stress when heart rate and respiratory rate increase. When the body is relaxed, the parasympathetic nervous system becomes most active.
Thus, it can be concluded that the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system are the branches of the autonomic nervous system.
