Concept explainers
To analyze: The autonomic nervous system is most involved with homeostasis than the somatic nervous system.
Introduction: The autonomic nervous system and somatic nervous system both are the parts of the peripheral nervous system. The autonomic nervous system involves the regulation of the internal organs. The somatic nervous system is also known as the voluntary nervous system. It controls the voluntary movements of the human body.
Explanation of Solution
Homeostasis is the state of maintaining a stable condition of the internal state. The autonomic nervous system helps in the regulation of the human body. There are two parts of the autonomic nervous system, they are the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system maintains the homeostasis of the internal organs. It is the active nervous system that helps in the increase of heart rate and breathing rate. The autonomic nervous system maintains the homeostasis as it maintains the stability of the normal heart rate, the breathing rate, and its force of contraction, unlike the somatic nervous system. It controls voluntary movements and skeletal muscle contraction. The voluntary movements are not involved in the maintenance of homeostasis.
