Concept explainers
To distinguish: between retina and taste buds.
Introduction: The retina and taste buds are the parts of the sensory receptors of our body. It allows us to sense the things around us in this world. There are five basic sense organs of our body, they are- smell, taste, hearing, sight, and touch. The retina is a part of sight, whereas taste buds are a part of taste.
Explanation of Solution
The retina is the part of the eyes and it contains the photoreceptors rods and cones. It is a thin tissue covering the interior of the back of the eye. The retina has the task of absorbing the lens, translating the lenses into synaptic signals, and transmitting these signals to the brain for visual image.
Taste buds are parts of taste and are found in our tongue. It is a part of the five sense organs of our body. We get various kinds of taste like sweet, bitter, sour, and salty because of the taste buds. They are chemical receptors that can detect various kinds of chemicals in our food.
Thus, this is the difference between retina and taste buds.
