Chapter 21, Problem 1TQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The significance of metagenomics studies to learn about the marine microbial community and their dissimilarity with a metatranscriptome.

Introduction:

The total of all DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) sequenced from the community of microbe is called a metagenome. The source of metagenome may be any natural or artificial environment. It could also be the microbiome of an animal or plant. Metatranscriptomics is the study of microbial gene expression in the natural environment. It enables the profiling of whole-genome expression in diverse microbial communities.

Suppose you have joined to a lab lately for your undergraduate research and your supervisor isan environmental biotechnologist and interest includes various aspects of microbial diversity.Your supervisor wants you to figure out the following questions:I. What do you want to know about a newly discovered microbe? II. How do you screen that microbe for the presence of nucleic acid? III. What would be the assessment for finding the relationship between the new and alreadyexisting one?
