Chapter 19.2, Problem 4TQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

1. The hypotheses about archaeal evolution when viruses of mesophilic Archaea are found to have RNA genomes.

2. The consequences when all archaeal viruses have only DNA genomes.

Introduction:

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are the types of nucleic acids found in living organisms. DNA act as genetic material in most of the living organisms whereas few have RNA as their genetic material. A genome is the genetic material of an individual that contains either DNA or RNA. A virus is a microscopic organism that replicates only within the host cell and is an infectious agent.
