Euryarchaeota is one of the major branches of archaea. It includes several branches of methanogens and a single group of halophilic archaea. Methanogens are methane-producing bacteria which produce methane as the by-product of metabolic reactions. Haloarchaea are found in a high salt environment. They require at least 1.5 NaCl (sodium chloride) or near ionic strength.
