Chapter 19, Problem 3RQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

The comparison and contrast between the diverse members of the Crenarchaeota and Thaumarchaeota.

Introduction:

Archaea are majorly divided into three phyla, Crenarchaeota, Thaumarchaeota, and Euryarchaeota. It is difficult to define the phylogeny of Archaea since most of them cannot be cultured and are known through small-subunit rRNA (ribosome ribonucleic acid) sequences or metagenomics. Many archaeal genomes include a large portion of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) transferred horizontally from bacteria.

Describe some of the different hymenophore configurations found within the Boletales and also differentiate between resupinate (crust-like), gastroid, and boletoid, and gilled hymenophores. Describe, in general terms, some of the macroscopic characteristics that are useful in separating the genera of boletes. Differentiate between adnate, decurrent, and sunken pore attachments. Identify a typical bolete spore. Describe the ecological niches occupied by members of the Boletales. Describe some of the difficulties in determining the ecological niche occupied by a specific member of the Boletales.
What is the sister group to Innovatiocaris maotianshanensis?   The phylogeny shows that some named groups are not monophyletic. For each of the following groups, state whether it is monophyletic: Hurdia - YES OR NO Hurdidae- YES OR NO Lyrarapax- YES OR NO Amplectobelua- YES OR NO Amplectobeluidae- YES OR NO Anomalocaris- YES OR NO
Differentiate the three classes of Porifera by making a phylogenetic tree (Make your own illustration). Label the similarities and differences between these classes that splits or relates them in the phylogenetic tree.
