Introduction:

Simple harmonic motion is one of the special types of periodic motion. In SHM,the restoring force of moving object is directly related and opposite in direction to the displacement vector.

The waves of the SHM are represented by sine curve. It is an oscillatory motion in which the net force that acts on the system is a restoring force. The oscillatory motion is a motion that repeats back and forth above the similar path and in equilibrium position like the mass of pendulum.

In simple harmonic motion the restoring force of the moving object is directly proportional and opposite to the displacement vector of object.

In simple harmonic motion the body is releasedfrom its original position. The oscillation of body takes place due to restoring force.

Three examples of Simple harmonic motion are:

1. The simple harmonic motion of a swing.
2. The motion of hands of a clock.
3. The motion of wheels of a car.

Conclusion:

Hence, Simple harmonic motion for any system repeats its motion back and forth or at the rest point.
