Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The wave is the phenomenon of transfer of motion of one particle at position to another particle at another position without actual change in the position of the particle. The wave requires a medium for the propagation of the wave. The energy transfer takes place via the propagation of the wave.
The wavelength of the wave is defined as the distance between the consecutive maximum or consecutive minimum position of the particle about mean position of the particle.
The speed of the wave is defined as the variation in the position of the particle with time. The speed and wavelength depend on the medium of the propagation. The number of oscillations of the particle about some mean position in unit time is called the frequency of the wave.
The wavelength and speed of the wave depends on the density of medium. The frequency depends only on the source of the wave. The density of the thin rope is less than the density of the thick rope, so the wavelength and speed of the wave changes. The source for the thin rope and thick rope remains same, so the frequency of the wave does not change.
Conclusion:
Thus, the wavelength and speed changes due to different medium of the thin and thick rope and frequency do not change because the source for thin and thick rope remains same.
