Introduction:

A fundamental relation that explains how a weight on a spring stretches that spring is called as Hooke's law.

Hooke's Law basically determines the force that is needed to extend or by some distance which is proportional to that distance.

  F=kx (Hooke's law)

where,

  F= applied load

  k= spring constant

  x= extension of the spring

Rubber bands have a linear proportionality between the load and extension only when it is reached till a certain limit.

  10%  increase in stretched load will make a rubber band 10%  longer. Still, when rubber bands are stretched to double of their actual size or more, the law does not hold true.

Conclusion:

Therefore, if the graph is a straight line, the rubber band will follow Hooke’s law and if the graph is curved then it will not follow Hooke’s law.
