In a chemical process, the reactant that would be consumed is the limiting reagent. The reaction cannot continue once that reactant is exhausted. As a result, it prevents the reaction from intensifying.
Explanation of Solution
A reactant that will be completely consumed at the end of a chemical reaction is known as the limiting reagent. This reagent controls the amount of product produced because the reaction would not be able to proceed without it.
Any additional reactants that are present in excess would then not be used up by one reactant.
