Interpretation:
Whether mass of an object can be predicted just by looking at it or not must be explained.
Concept introduction:
Mass of an object depends on the density of the matter. Greater the density higher is the mass stored in the matter in small volume.
Answer to Problem 4E
Mass of an object can’t be predicted just by looking at it.
Explanation of Solution
Different matters have different densities. So, a matter with higher density must have higher mass if volumes are same. For example, if a very small piece of gold is taken and similar piece of aluminium is taken, their masses will be different. Piece of gold will have higher mass due to possessing higher density.
Thus, mass can’t be predicted by looking at the matter.
