Joints provide attachment between bones. They may contain a joint cavity like the synovial joints or lack a joint cavity such as the fibrous and cartilaginous joints. The most flexible joint is the synovial joint. The articular cartilages surround the surfaces of the bones that are attaching at the synovial joint.
