They are of two types, namely symphysis and synchondroses that contain fibrocartilage and hyaline cartilage.Synchondroses includes the epiphyseal plate and the joint between costal cartilage of the first rib and the manubrium. Symphyses include the pubic symphysis and intervertebral disc.
