Summary Introduction
To review:
The term prophage.
Introduction:
Upon infection of the host cell, bacteriophage DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) can follow one of two possible life cycles. The first is the lytic cycle, involving the generation of multiple phage copies and lysis of the host cell. The second is the lysogeny cycle, which does not trigger the lysis of the host cell.
