Question
Chapter 49.3, Problem 2C
Summary Introduction
To explain: The way in which steroid and peptide hormones differ in their mechanisms of action.
Introduction: The endocrine system is the chemical signaling system that uses blood vessels as information channels. The endocrine glands are ductless organs located within the organ systems and contain groups of endocrine cells that secrete their hormones directly into their surroundings. Hormones are signaling molecules that help to regulate physiology and behavior. The cells that are influenced by a particular hormone are known as target cells. They have specific binding receptors on the surface of the cell or within the cell. Hormones bind to these receptors to produce a characteristics response.
