Chapter 45.1, Problem 1R
Summary Introduction
To review:
The cause of receptor potential, the mechanism and the place by which it initiates an action potential in the stretch receptor of a crayfish.
Introduction:
The stretch receptors are present in the muscles to sense the extent to which the muscles get stretched. The presence of stretch receptor is important as it relays information to the central nervous system, which then sends commanding signals to the muscles to compensate for pressure applied to muscles. For example, while holding a bucket, our stretch receptors continuously send signals to the brain enabling us to hold the bucket while filling the water.
