Introduction:

Pfiesteria is a genus of heterotrophic dinoflagellates. It is controversially believed that Pfiesteria can occur in at least two dozens of distinct forms. It can be predatory on fish. The dinoflagellates of genus Pfiesteria are toxic and can act both animal-like by consuming other organisms and plant-like by performing photosynthesis.

A certain unicellular eukaryote has a glasslike shell and exhibits autotrophic nutrition.  When it dies this glasslike shell is not degraded unless acted upon by bacteria. To which clade does it belong?   Rhizaria Unikonta Archaeplastida Chromalveolata Excavata
Compare the phylogenetic  tree of protists with the secondary endosymbiosis theory which proposes how photosynthetic protists evolved. Are both reconcilable? Explain.
We discussed two theories of the evolution of multicellularity in the animals, the Colonial Theory and the Syncytial Theory. For each of the two theories, give a brief summary of the theory and describe the characteristics you would expect to find in the protist ancestor proposed by each theory.
