Introduction:

Zebra mussels are one of the bivalves. They have a special ability to form colonies, which is ultra-dense and may cause clogging of the narrow pores. They are filter feeders and feed on the algae and other planktons.

Explanation of Solution

In order to determine if the zebra mussels can be used as a filter for purifying water, zebra mussels should be introduced in a pipe having a high-density algal content, at one end, a collecting tub should be kept, if the zebra mussel can filter good water from algae water, then they can be used as a water purifier in a zoo.
