The ancestral characters of the organism are those characters that are present in the ancestors and the derived characters are the new characters of the plants which are evolved new. The flowers are the derived character of the angiosperm. The flower is the site of reproduction in the angiosperms. The ancestral character of the angiosperms is the presence of the vascular bundles. They have xylem and phloem for the transport of nutrients and water.
