Introduction:
The coral reefs are the underwater skeletal remains of the colonial marine invertebrates along with the sponges and other organisms that are called corals. They play a very important role in providing food to the sea life and locals, income sources, some medicines and protect coastline from erosion.
Explanation of Solution
The following steps can be taken to preserve the reefs:
- Do not touch the reefs and the organism present in it while snorkeling and swimming.
- Do not put sunscreen while swimming, some component of sunscreen may be harmful to the corals.
- Avoid using fertilizers, so that, the field run off does not have a harmful effect on the growth of the corals.
- Recycle the trash properly, specially the plastic, so that it does not pollute the water bodies.
