The three major types of volcanoes.
Answer to Problem 14RQ
The three major types of volcanoes are shield, cinder cone and composite.
Explanation of Solution
The volcanoes made from a stable source of simply moving basaltic lava that moves in all direction making a broad and gently sloping cone which resembles a shield are known as shield volcanoes.
The volcanoes which are very steep and made from the pilling up of ash, cinders and rocks that explosively emerge from a single vent to form a regular steep-sided cone are called cinder cone volcanoes.
Composite cone volcanoes are made from lava and ash. They made of alternating layers of lava, ash and mud. The lava and ash support to hold the composite cone volcanoes.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the three major types of volcanoes are shield, cinder cone and composite.
