Question
Chapter 22, Problem 6WWTS
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The respiratory tract extends from the nose to the alveoli of the lungs. The lung is the principle organ of respiration. The main function of the bronchus is the exchange of gases such as oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Gaseous exchange is a process of the respiratory system where gases such as O2 and CO2 get exchanged between the lungs and the blood. O2 is an important gas that is used by the tissues for metabolism, but the level of CO2 in the blood is essential for acid base homeostasis.
