Explanation of Solution

Voltmeter is a device which is used to measure the voltage in circuit, and for that purpose the wire of voltmeter has very high resistance so that no current can pass through the voltmeter and it can read exact value of potential drop across the voltmeter.

When ammeter is mistakenly used in place of voltmeter, it will read 0 voltage drop, as the resistance of ammeter wire is negligible and thus, no potential drop will take place along the wire and it will read 0 in the scale.
