Chapter 18, Problem 4Q
Summary Introduction

To review:

The additional technology required along with CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats)/Cas9 genome editing technology to combat malaria.

Introduction:

Malaria is caused by the bite of female Anopheles mosquito. During blood sucking, mosquito injects numerous Plasmodium parasites into the bloodstream of the host. It has been reported that there is a recessive gene in some genetic strains of Anopheles. This strain when becomes homozygous, that is, both alleles are mutated, the condition becomes worse. However, this can be altered by gene editing with CRISPR-CAS9 genome editing technology.
