Silver compounds are used in photography because when the silver compounds encounters or come in contact with the light, then the image is formed.

Introduction:

There are total three silver compounds which used in photography.

1. Silver Chloride $(\text{AgCl)}$ .
2. Silver Bromide $\text{(AgBr)}$ .
3. Silver Iodine $\text{(AgI)}$ .

The reason behind the use of silver compounds for photography is that these compounds are light-sensitive compounds; so, when the silver compounds encounter a certain amount of light, the image begins to form. These compounds are better light-sensitive than any other compounds. These compounds can also be used in films and X-rays.
