To explain the randomization in design.
Explanation of Solution
There might be bias in the results or in the subjects. Therefore, to reduce this bias and equalize groups with respect to unknown factor we need randomization. First need to find a group of volunteers. We need to use a matched pair of design so it requires each volunteer to deactivate the machine with his/her left hand as well as with his/her right hand. Now, assign the left or right hand randomly. In that way, we can complete first attempt for the whole group. Then repeat the experiment with the alternate hand. Check the differences in time for the left and right hands. In this experiment, randomization is important because it will reduce the variability in the result.
