Chapter 9.3, Problem 4QC
Summary Introduction
To review:
The muscles, which are involved in the compression of the abdominal cavity and the function that it supports.
Introduction:
Transversus abdominis muscle is the deepest muscle of the abdomen that is significant for the abdominal compression. All othermuscles of the abdominal cavity like the rectus abdominisand internal and external oblique muscles perform the compression of the abdomen apart from flexion of the trunk region. Furthermore, these muscles also aid in the development of the “sixpack”in an individual.

What is the name of the muscle that subdivides the ventral body cavity?
Other than acting to flex the spine and compress the abdominal contents, the abdominal muscles are extremely important in protecting and containing the abdominal viscera. What is it about the arrangement of these muscles that makes them so well suited for their job?
1)Describe the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall.
2) Why are the muscles of the face different from typical skeletal muscle?
