Vaporization is a process where there is a change in phase from liquid or solid to a gas.  The process of changing the liquid phase to a gas phase is called evaporation.  The process of changing the solid phase to a gas phase is called sublimation.

The energy required per mole of a substance to change its liquid state into a gaseous state is called molar enthalpy of vaporization.  It units is J/mol.
