Chapter 8, Problem 8.32P
Consider the typical construction of a sheathed thermocouple, as shown in Figure 8.47. Analysis of this geometry to determine conduction errors in temperature measurement is difficult. Suggest a method for placing a realistic upper limit on the conduction error for such a probe, for a specified immersion depth into a convective environment.

A J-type thermocouple with an ice-reference junction showed a
reading of 22 mV. After the experiment, it was found that the
actual temperature of the reference junction is 4ºC instead of 0ºC.
Calculate the actual value of the measured temperature.
I understand the question, I don’t understand why you don’t add the increase to all the other values when finding the “gradient” if the reference was found to be 0.204 higher
Explain the significance of the following information given in the specification of the followingtransducer,Thermocouple Sensitivity: nickel chromium/nickel aluminum thermocouple: 0.039 mV/ºC when thecold junction is at 0 ºC.
Use appropriate diagram and sketches.
When the cold junction of a thermocouple thermometer is at 0° C and the hot junction at 100°C the millivoltmeter shows a deflection of 4.2 mV towards the left. The cold junction is now put in an unknown temperature while maintaining the hot junction at 100°C. The millivoltmeter now shows a deflection of 5.2 mV towards the right. Calculate the unknown temperature
