Introduction:
Active transport is the transport mechanism that transports the molecules or ions across a membrane against its concentration gradient. In the case of channel protein where molecules diffuse down to their concentration gradient, there is no need for energy expenditure. Active transport requires energy expenditure to perform the work. Active transport maintains the internal concentration of solutes that differ in concentration from the environment.
