To explain: The method of changing the direction of rocket when it is far out in space and is essentially in a vacuum.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Newton’s third law of motion is the law of action and reaction. It states that for every action there is equal and opposite reaction.

Rocket fires the gas in the given direction. It exerts force on the gas. This is action force. Gas exerts reaction force in opposite direction. The momentum of rocket gas system is constant. If gas is exerted in right direction then the rocket moves towards left and if gas is exerted in left direction then rocket will move towards right.

Conclusion:

The rocket change direction far in space, by expelling gas out from it.
