Summary Introduction

To review:

The opposing effects associated with sympathetic fibers as well as the parasympathetic fibers.

Introduction:

The ANS (autonomic nervous system) conducts the functions of the internal organs. It controls the different body functions such as respiratory rate, digestion, heart rate, urination, papillary response, and sexual arousal. The ANS is divided into three branches: PNS (parasympathetic nervous system), SNS (sympathetic nervous system), and the enteric nervous system. The SNS and PNS perform the opposite action in the same organ.
