Given information : The mass of copper is 1.50g , the mass of product is 2.14g .

The general formula for given compound is CuaOb . The mass of oxygen present in the compound is given as shown below.

  Mass of oxygen=2.14g1.50g=0.64g

The molar mass of copper is 63.546g/mol and the molar mass of oxygen is 16.0g/mol .

Substitute given mass and molar mass of copper in above formula to calculate its moles.

  Number of moles=1.50g63.546gmol=0.0236mol

Substitute given mass and molar mass of oxygen in above formula to calculate its moles.

  Number of moles=0.64g16.0gmol=0.04mol

Divide the number of moles of copper and oxygen with the smallest of number as shown below.
