Question
Chapter 6, Problem 20SAE
Summary Introduction
To review: The difference between a synergist muscle and a prime mover. On this basis, predict how can a prime mover be considered as an antagonist.
Introduction:
The movement is brought about by the contraction produced in the muscles. An uncontrolled contraction can lead to a condition called tetanus in which the muscle fails to relax. Thus, a group of muscles always work together in causing a movement of contraction and relaxation.

In a resting (non-contracting) muscle, what is the position of myosin?
It is attached to the tropomyosin.
It is in the high-energy, cocked position.
It is attached to the actin.
It is in the low-energy, bent position.
What are the two neurotransmitters involved in excitation and inhibitation of muscles?
Explain the role of agonist, antagonist, synergist, and fixator muscles. Give two examples of each.
