Microbes or microorganisms are classified on environmental parameters to which they are adapted such as thermophile, mesophile, and hyperthermophile are some categories based on temperature adaptations. Other environmental parameters according which the microbes are classified are pH (potential of hydrogen), salt, pressure, and oxygen requirement.
