To analyze:
The reason why that physicians take biopsies of nearby lymph nodes when surgically removing cancerous tumors from the body.
Introduction:
The body's lymphatic system depends on the tiny, rounded organs known as lymph hubs. The resistive framework includes the lymphatic framework. It consists of a network of veins and organs that transports lymph, a fluid that reasonably carries white platelets that fight illness as well as fluid and side effects from the body's cells and tissues. Lymph can also carry cancer cells that have detached from the primary tumor in a patient with malignant development. A sentinel lymph hub biopsy (SLNB) is a method where the sentinel lymph hub is identified, removed, and examined to determine whether malignant growth cells are present.

- Discuss the term macrophagearrow_forwardWhat part of the immune system has been linked to progression of cancer?arrow_forwardMetastasis is the spread of cancer to new tissue/regions within the body. Using breast cancer as an example, explain how the lymph system could facilitate metastasis.arrow_forward

R-S cells in tumor tissues of different cases or in different pathological stages of the same case are different E. in the later stages of HL, the bone marrow may be involved in about 10% of casesarrow_forward
- Explain why chemotherapy and radiation may berecommended following surgery for breast cancer evenwhen no lymph nodes appear to be involved.arrow_forwardTopic: A patient was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019. The tumor metastasized to multiple sites of the body. In 2020, the same patient was infected with COVID-19. Upon recovery from the infection, the physician performed a CT scan and noticed tumor complete remission. Using your knowledge in immunology, can you described what may have accounted for the complete remission?arrow_forwardWhen vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is used to infect mice via footpad injection, viral particles are trapped in the draining lymph node (the popliteal lymph node) within 5 minutes of injection. These viral particles are then retained in the lymph node for many hours, where they can be visualized on cells that are interacting with B cells. The cells retaining the viral particles in the lymph node are not tissue-resident dendritic cells that have migrated to the lymph node with the virus, as this process takes much longer than 5 minutes. In which region of the lymph node would you expect to find the trapped viral particles and on which cells?arrow_forward
- Compare and contrast the morphology of the tissue sections of infant thymus and a lymph node. Describe 2 ways that they are similar in structure and 2 ways that they are different in structure?arrow_forwardIn the disease mononucleosis (“mono”), the spleen enlarges because of increased numbers of phagocytes and other cells. Common signs and symptoms of this disease include pale complexion, a tired feeling, and a lack of energy sometimes to the point of not being able to get out of bed. What might cause these signs and symptoms? (Please include your citation, if there is. Thanks!)arrow_forwardWhat is the difference and similarities with regard to structure of lymph ducts and veins.
