Answer to Problem 7TE

The life-forms that emerged during the Silurian period are terrestrial plants as well as air-breathing scorpions and millipedes.

Explanation of Solution

The Gondwanaland remained close to the South Pole in the period of Silurian. Some continents like North America, Europe, and Siberia were located near the equator. During this period, the gradual warming of the Earth took place. This lead to the melting of glaciers and the formation of shallow seas in continent interiors and coral reefs. The world’s climate began to stabilize and warm. This was the time when terrestrial life started developing. In low wetland areas, plants evolved to survive on land. Along with this development, air-breathing creatures such as scorpions and millipedes were also present.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the life-forms that emerged during the Silurian period are terrestrial plants as well as air-breathing scorpions and millipedes.
