Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Three amino acids with branched-chain R groups that are broken down in tissues has to be identified and equation for its transamination for any one of the amino acids has to be written.

Concept introduction:

• Transamination of amino acid is the reaction in which amino group is converted to keto acid and formation of a new amino acid takes place.
• The reaction is the interchange of amino group from given amino acid with the keto group from $\text{α-ketoglutarate}$. During transamination reaction $\text{α-ketoglutarate}$ gives glutamate as the product. The product from the amino acid is the keto group.
• Oxidative deamination is the removal of $-N{H}_4{}^{+}$ bonded to $\alpha -carbon$ and replacing them by a $C=O$ gives the desired $\text{α-keto}\text{acid}$.
