The difference between simple leaf and compound leaf.

Introduction:

Leaves are very important for any vascular plant. Leaves contain chloroplast that further contains chlorophyll that is green in color. This green pigment absorbs light energy, and convert it into glucose, chemical energy, in the presence of water and carbohydrates. In leaves only, food for plants is made.

Explanation of Solution

Difference between simple leaf and compound leaf is as follows:

Simple leaf	Compound leaf
It contains a single leaf blade.	Compound leaf contains various leaflets attached to a single midrib.
In simple leaf, leaf blade is not divided.	In compound leaf, leaf blade is divided inti many leaflets.
In this leaf, lateral bud is found at the base of petiole.	There are no lateral buds at the base of compound leaf.
Example − Maple tree, black cherry, mango tree, and guava tree.	Example − Neem tree, shame plant, and rose plant.
