Concept explainers
To determine:
The difference between taproots and fibrous roots and make their sketch too.
Introduction:
Plant cells act as building blocks for plants. These cells contain chloroplast, where photosynthesis occurs. It is an important process in plants for making food, by using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide.
Explanation of Solution
Roots − These are the organs in vascular plants that anchorage the plant to the ground and transport water and other nutrients throughout the plant. Roots are of two types, secondary roots and primary roots. Primary roots grow downwards and secondary roots grow sideways.
Two types of root systems are fibrous roots and taproot. Taproots grow downwards and reach deep into the soil, while fibrous root grows horizontally. Taproot anchors plant to the soil more firmly as compared to the fibrous root.
