Hormones are organic compounds that are made in one part of an organism, and then transported to another part where they have an effect. It takes only a tiny amount of a hormone to cause a change in an organism.

The first plant hormone to be identified was auxin. There are different types of auxins, but indoleacetic acid (IAA) is the most widely studied. IAA is produced from apical meristems, buds, young leaves, and other fast developing tissues.It moves throughout the plant fromone parenchyma cell to thenext by a type of active transport.Auxin is a hormone of plants.
